Bal Disha - Exhibition of Paintings by four child artists at Nehru Centre, Mumbai

Nehru Centre, Mumbai hosts an exhibition of paintings by select child artists every year on the occasion of Children’s Day. I was invited to inaugurate "Bal Disha - 2014".

This show featured artworks of four child artists - Maksim Kuskovski, Aishwarya Ramchandran, Rohan Shenoy and Krisha Shah who were selected for Bal Disha - 2014".

It is always so refreshing to interact with young students who are so full of energy and ideas, are innocent and have no egos. It was wonderful to interact with these child artists, their parents, families and friends. The team at Nehru Centre ably led by Mrs. Nina Rege had organised this event so well and their efforts and attention to detail was obvious.

It was however strange to see that the family of one particular child artist had spent considerable money to promote the future star artist - they had printed a catalogue and a visiting card for their beloved child and had also hired the services of a PR agency ! When I saw this, I realised that we need to be very vigilant about such practices as not only this is grossly unfair to the other child artists, the parents need to realise that they are doing a huge disservice to their own child. The parents had done all this without informing Nehru Centre and without any prior permission to do so.
